Dear Costumes (a love letter of sorts):

Some people think a costume is just 'dressing up' and playing pretend. But you and I know differently. We know that when designed and constructed well and continuity maintained, you help a director tell a story, help actors inhabit their characters and transport an audience into another world. 

​

I therefore promise to treat you with the respect you deserve.

​

I offer this promise as a mature person, who knows the value of hard work, with the patience to put in the hours to ensure you look the best you can. But also as a person who understands that sometimes we just gotta get stuff done, and let's not take too much time cause the cast and crew are waiting!

 

I've got some pretty slick skills from working in office management and town planning - yep, those skills in organisation, problem solving and communication are super transferrable! These days, I've also got a Diploma in Costume for Performance from Melbourne Polytechnic and experience working on productions in the theatre and screen worlds. Formal training and real-world experience to ensure any time we spend together is bright and happy.
